La Vache a “French Casual Bistro” has become a landmark
institution and dining place.

The restaurant, located at 420 Robinson in the lively section of Hillcrest in San Diego, offers a culinary venture that is every bit as sensational and delicious as the many excellent reviews they’ve received over the years.

Open for lunch all day long, this is the palace for wonderful salads and homemade soups. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays, you can enjoy brunch… as you could at any wonderful French bistro in France. For lunch, try the signature Shepard salad (crisp fresh greens with walnuts, pear, olives, Roquefort, parmesan topped with goat cheese flan) or a terrific version of a Grilled Salmon Caesar Salad or the famous Calamari Salad.

The appetizers are outstanding with Escargots or the assortment of imported cheese and pates with fresh French breads. A real taste of France… You will rave to your friends about the incredible Rack of Lamb or the French Boeuf Borguignon; tender beef simmered in luscious red wine sauce, mushrooms, onions, red potatoes and a dash of Dijon and French sauces.

The restaurant is also known for its selection of seafood entrees prepared with an assortment of French sauces. The menu is extensive and also features a Veal Stew Casserole and French Gourmet Pizzas. The Filet Mignon is about the best San Diego has to offer.

The wine bar selection includes a moderate priced collection of French and California wines. The desserts are also superb and don’t miss the French “Profiterole’, a puff pastry filled with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.

Tuesday nights you can enjoy a special Prix Fixe dinner menu as well as the regular menu. That $17.50 Prix Fixe menu is a three course dinner, if you can get a table. If you get to the restaurant any night between 4-6 PM, they’ll offer that same Prix Fixe menu.
